New photos from Lulah Hills, the former North DeKalb Mall

Update on Lulah Hills: demolition of portions of North DeKalb mall is now complete.

The former site of Rich’s North DeKalb. Another step toward the future development of Lulah Hills.

This week I’m posting some new photographs of the North DeKalb Mall area, which is on its way to becoming Lulah Hills. I wrote about the changes in North DeKalb Mall along with some Rich’s history back in May of 2021.

You can read updates on the changes taking place on the property here. Although I am nostalgic about Rich’s and North DeKalb Mall, I’m looking forward to seeing the development of Lulah Hills.

This sign, photographed July 2024, indicates that Lulah Hills is open and currently includes AMC Theatre and Marshall’s.

The former auto care center.

The March 8, 1970 Atlanta Journal advertises Rich’s Auto Service Center locations at Greenbriar, Downtown, North DeKalb, Cobb County and South DeKalb. I remember there was one a year or two later at Perimeter Mall, where today a Chick Fil A restaurant sits. At Northlake Mall, the Sears department store had an automotive center.

Some demolition work is visible behind the chain link fence that encloses the end of the mall where Rich’s and later Macy’s was located.

AMC Theater and Marshall’s from the former North DeKalb Mall are still open.
