William Black photograph collection at DeKalb History Center
Among the amazing archives of DeKalb History Center are photograph collections, including the William Black photo collection. William Black was the staff photographer and yearbook photographer at Chamblee High School from the late 1940s through the 1960s.
Dr. Jack Schreeder and Dee Schreeder of Chamblee
Dr. Schreeder served during World War II in the Mediterranean and European theaters and was awarded the Bronze Star and French War Cross. After the war, he attended Emory University Medical School. He did his residency at Grady Memorial Hospital and Lawson General Hospital in Chamblee. Then he joined Dr. W. A. Mendenhall’s office and small hospital in Chamblee.
Canneries were part of farm life
Several Georgia schools had canneries on their grounds. In 1943, Tucker, Norcross, and Chamblee High Schools were among the top Georgia schools processing canned food and helping their community.
